Stephanie at empowered photo is such a talented photographer! We hired her to take “redo” bride/groom pictures of us, (the ones from our wedding day felt lacking) & we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Not only was it fun to put our suit and gown back on, but Stephanie is SO great at what she does. The photos turned out SO nice! She was patient, flexible, encouraging, fun, focused, & accommodating during our shoot. Neither of us felt entirely comfortable as ‘models’, but she did a great job directing us and keeping genuine smiles rolling. I’ll definitely be recommending her to friends and family, and I hope we can use her again in the future! She gave us pictures that we will cherish forever and that’s a priceless gift (but that said, I found her rates very reasonable/appropriate). You won’t regret using Stephanie, highly recommend!

A mini session to document three generations? 🥹 How sweet was this session with @itsjessicaah_ and her family.

Such a beautiful family photo session at the poppy fields 🥹 love meeting @gisselle_anakaren and her family! Thanks for braving the 100 degree weather for these 🫶🏼

Vinyl scratches, love songs, and late summer light. There’s just something timeless about documenting two people who fully see each other. This session felt like a music video and a memory all at once.

Lily plays the cello, and her grandpa loved it. She called him Poppy — so when she heard about sessions in a literal poppy field, it felt meant to be. She brought her cello… and her heart. Her girlfriend is heading off to college soon, so they carved out space for a little magic and memory-making before goodbye. This session was soft, golden, and full of meaning — the kind that lingers. It may have been 100 degrees for this mini session, but it was worth it if you ask me.

Senior photos at the beach? Say less.
Claire is a 2025 senior with the sweetest soul and the most calming energy — even on a day that was scorching, windy, and packed with beachgoers, she brought nothing but peace.

She’s an introvert in the best way — thoughtful, present, and full of quiet strength. Between youth group, cross-country, and big dreams of becoming a pediatric nurse, this girl is going places. You can just feel it.

What stood out most, though, was how close she is with her mom. Their bond was so real, and it made capturing this session even more meaningful with her mom rooting her on!

Christina’s wedding photo shot list included: eating cake on the floor, sitting at the bar, and a champagne tower. We may have had to order a piece of cake and crash the hotel restaurant during rush hour, but I think we crushed it. ☺️ What do you guys think?

I’ve always been a bit of a hopeless romantic …the kind of person who cries during movie proposals and smiles way too hard at old couples holding hands. But it wasn’t until I fell in love and married my husband that I truly understood how beautiful love can be. The way he loves me patiently, intentionally, with so much grace … has changed me. It’s shown me a kind of love that feels sacred. A love that reminds me of the kind of tenderness God has for us.

From a slow morning at the Cambria Hotel, to vows at Cherry Creek Golf Club, to brunch at Bar Verona with their closest people — every part of their day was filled with love and so much intention.

But the best part? After brunch, they invited 30 of their closest friends to a private hotel space… and surprised every single one of them with tickets to the Russell Dickerson concert that night. Because that’s just who they are — thoughtful, generous, deeply rooted in connection.

Christina and Kyle are not only partners, but incredible parents to their two kids, Ava and Bryan. And watching the way they love each other, love their people, and created a day that felt so them — it was pure joy to witness.

I love capturing weddings because it’s storytelling at its most honest.

I remember when I use to be terrified of night time or dim lit photo sessions 😅 One piece of advice I always give newer photogs is to learn all about light & your camera settings. Truly, all things are possible once you get this down. I’d argue it doesn’t even matter if you have the most expensive body or lens! Make art. Trust the process. Macy & Ashton have been together since 7th grade and yes, it’s just as romantic as it sounds. From growing up on farms to building a life in Allendale with their cat and dog, these two are the real-life definition of a rom-com couple. 💛

He proposed recently (cue the happy tears), and we turned this beach session into their own little movie. Golden hour, bare feet in the sand, soft laughs under neon lights… it felt like summer love in its purest form.

I swear I’ve always had a cinematic mind, where I see the world through symbolic or visual storytelling…as if it were a movie. Anyone else?

Dreamy warm summer nights are really on the horizon now. 🤗 Ramping up for busy season and I’m feeling so creative and inspired.

As a Michigan couples photographer, I don’t just take pictures, I tell love stories the way they feel. Whether it’s a golden-hour field dance, a soft hand on the back, or quiet laughter under a sunset sky, I’m here for all the in-between moments. 🤗

There’s something really powerful about witnessing love that’s rooted in vulnerability and honest communication.

Spending time with these two was more than just a session …it felt like watching what healing looks like when it’s wrapped in patience, laughter, and deep connection. The way they love each other? It’s the kind of love that reflects how unconditional care can truly transform us.

We explored Provin Trails and wandered through downtown, and I left with a full heart (and a camera full of moments that tell their story better than I ever could).

I’m just really grateful to do this, to capture love like this.

They’ve been together for ten years, since high school. And somehow it still feels fresh. Safe. Full of care.

We shot this session at Metro Beach, a place that holds meaning for them both. A bird followed us nearly the entire time, swooping close more than once. It felt like more than just a bird. Like a quiet reminder. A presence. A soft moment held in memory. 🤍

There was something sacred about the way he looks at her, how he holds her without needing to say much. Their love is gentle and real, and witnessing it honestly made me feel a little more human. A little more aware of how deep love can run when it’s nurtured well.

I spend so much time hyping up other people behind the camera, so stepping in front of it felt a little weird… but also kind of magical. It reminded me what it’s like to feel unsure, to overthink how you look, and then to see a photo that makes you go, “Wait—that’s me?”

Grace and Conor have been together since high school and are now doing long distance…he’s at the University of Georgia studying business, and she’s at Michigan State University for dietetics.

🌼TSwift-Inspired Senior Session
This was one of my absolute favorite sessions from last summer, part because of the light, part because of the soul, and part because it felt like stepping straight into a Taylor Swift album.

We wandered through a quiet meadow by the water, vinyls and record player in hand, chasing that golden hour light that only lasts for a moment but stays with you forever. She read through old album covers, barefoot in the flowers, the warm breeze moving through her hair like lyrics waiting to be written. It was “All Too Well,” “Seven,” and “Invisible String” wrapped into one.

This wasn’t just a senior session, it was a full-on moment. Poetic, playful, and peaceful. And proof that when you infuse a session with your heart, your music, your memories… the photos feel like you.

How far in advance should we book our session or wedding date?

I recommend booking as early as possible — especially for weddings or peak seasons. For portrait sessions, 1 to 2 months in advance is great. For weddings, securing your date 6 to 12 months out helps ensure availability.

I specialize in emotive, storytelling imagery with a cinematic and nostalgic vibe. I’ll guide you when needed, but I focus on capturing genuine moments — the kind that feels like you.

How and when will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive an online gallery with high-resolution, edited images typically within 2–4 weeks for sessions and 8–12 weeks for weddings. Sneak peeks are often sent within a few days because I know waiting is hard.
Do you travel or shoot outside of Grand Rapids?

Yes! I love traveling for love stories and creative sessions. Whether it's a beach elopement, mountain vow renewal, or small-town wedding, let’s chat and make it happen. Travel fees may apply depending on the location.
